I was inspired by friend and artist Liz Hernández to create this textured cactus sweater.
While referencing elements of the traditional Aran sweater, the individual construction elements are deployed in a very light-hearted, almost absurd way. Once described as "an awful lot of work for a one-liner," the Aran Cactus sweater highlights the disposability of contemporary mass production by elevating what could otherwise be a mass-produced joke t-shirt to the level of high craft. The very idea of the ‘desert Aran sweater’ is itself paradoxical.
Hand-knit from heirloom Romney wool yarn grown on a predator-friendly ranch in Wyoming in its natural cream color.
